Anne Sheppard is Professor Emerita of Ancient Philosophy at Royal Holloway, University of London and an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Classical Studies of the University of London. She previously taught Philosophy at Oxford, then Classics at the University of Durham and Philosophy at the Open University before joining the Classics Department at Royal Holloway in 1989. Her publications include Studies on the 5th and 6th essays of Proclus’ Commentary on the Republic (1980), Aesthetics. An Introduction to the Philosophy of Art (1987), Greek and Roman Aesthetics (with Oleg Bychkov, 2010) and The Poetics of Phantasia. Imagination in Ancient Aesthetics (2014).
