Ishtiyaq Ahmad earned his doctorate from the Fish Nutrition Research Laboratory, Department of Zoology, University of Kashmir, Srinagar, India. He is currently a Senior Researcher at the Division of Fish Genetics and Biotechnology, Faculty of Fisheries, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Kashmir (SKUAST-K), Rangil, Ganderbal, India. His research focuses on developing pure lines for the genetic improvement of rainbow trout to enhance overall aquaculture production. Dr. Ahmad's expertise spans Fish Nutrition, Fish Physiology and Biochemistry, Nutrigenomics, Fish Parasitology, and Molecular Biology. His notable research includes establishing the optimal branched-chain amino acid requirements for rainbow trout. He has published over 40 research articles in esteemed international journals such as Scientific Reports, Aquaculture, Reviews in Aquaculture, Aquaculture Nutrition, Aquaculture Research, Aquaculture Reports, Journal of Applied Ichthyology, Frontiers in Marine Science, Food Chemistry: X, and Journal of Contaminant Hydrology. Additionally, Dr. Ahmad has authored several book chapters and five books with national and international publishers. He has presented his work at various state, national, and international conferences, seminars, and workshops, earning numerous accolades, including the Young Scientist Award from a national organization and several Best Paper Presentation awards. Dr. Ahmad serves on the editorial boards of prominent international journals, including PLOS ONE and Frontiers in Nutrition. He also worked as a Senior Research Fellow in a DBT-funded project on the nutrient requirements of rainbow trout fingerlings and is a recipient of the prestigious CSIR NET award.
