Dr Parikshit Shirode, an eminent surgeon from Ayurveda fraternity, completed his graduation as BAMS with flying colours followed by M.S. in Shalya Tantra (General Surgery) from V. A. M. V., Amaravati, Maharashtra holding 2nd position at the university level. He has profound clinical experience of 21 years. He has managed various difficult cases using his expertise in para-surgical and surgical skills as well as with conventional Ayurvedic medicine. Almost 2200 cases have been operated successfully by him. He has 16 years of UG Teaching and 7 years of PG teaching experience. He started his academic career as a lecturer in Shalya Tantra at Shree Saptashrungi Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya and hospital, Nashik, Maharashtra, and continued there as an associate professor. In December 2018, he joined Parul Institute of Ayurved, Vadodara, Gujarat as a Professor at the department of Shalyatantra. Till now 15 PG Scholars have submitted their dissertations successfully under his keen guidance, and at present 9 PG Scholars are doing their dissertations work under his guidance. He has extended his professional skills towards social cause by organizing and participating in various diagnostics and treatment camps. Participation in 'Hemalkasa Surgical Camp at Lokbiradari Prakalp, Hemalkasa, Dist. Gadchiroli, Maharashtra (A project by Dr Prakashji Amte and Rotary, Nagpur) in 2005, 2006 and 2007 as a volunteer surgeon where he was awarded with the certificate of excellence by Rotary Nagpur. He has also received prestigious awards like Sushruta award by Gujarat board of Ayurveda and Unani system of medicine, Vikram Sarabhai Innovation Award by the hands of Honorable president of NCISM, Dr B. S. Prasad and Piyush Mahodadhi Award by NIMA Surgical Society. He has published 25 articles in renowned international journals. Articles authorized by him are also published in proceedings of various national and international webinars and seminars. He also contributed his expertise through writing the chapters in books published by international publishers. His innovative idea 'Modified Multi Needle Therapeutic Blood Lancing Device' has received Device Design patent by the Patent Authority of India.
