Federico Ángel Rodríguez-González, Ph.D., FASM, is professor and research scientist with the orthopaedics and traumatology service of the Dr. José E. González University Hospital and on the faculty of medicine of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, Monterrey, Mexico. His background combines research, industrial experience, and teaching in mechanical engineering, metallurgy, and biomaterials. His current research interests include surface engineering; biomaterials such as ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene, metal alloys, and composites; and nuclear radiation of biomaterials (bones for sterilization, on bone tumors). He teaches courses on biomaterials and on other science and engineering topics.
