There were an estimated 1.5 million new cases of cancer in the U.S. in 2008, according to the American Cancer Society. In addition to surgery and radiation treatments, anti-cancer drugs are an important part of fighting cancer.

Also referred to as chemotherapy, cancer treatment drugs work by killing or slowing the growth of cancer cells. Because cancer takes a wide variety of forms, many different drugs are used to treat it, and some are designed to combat specific cancer types.
