David G. Embrick holds a joint position as associate professor in the Sociology Department and Africana Studies Institute at the University of Connecticut. He earned his Ph.D. at Texas A&M University. His research has centered largely on the impact of contemporary forms of racism on people of color. Dr. Embrick teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in racism and oppression, and undergraduate courses including introduction to sociology, inequality, and class stratification.
Bhoomi K. Thakore is an assistant professor of sociology and the director of the Sociology Program at Elmhurst College. She earned her Ph.D. at Loyola University Chicago. Her research interests include social inequality and race, ethnicity, and gender in the media. Dr. Thakore teaches undergraduate courses in research methods, sociological theory, mass media, race and ethnicity, and introduction to sociology.
